to alter the beam pattern is remove material from the passenger side of the shield. The driver side remains as-is, which means when you install the headlights you are going to have to adjust them down by the exact same amount regardless if you affected the passenger side or not. All that fix does is send more light down the passenger side of the road, which is fine and good, but given the price of these things, it simply makes sense to install and drive first and then determine if the passenger side of the beam is an issue or not. Now if someone 3D printed mirrorerd versions of those shields, that would be a different story.
